This Gray or That Grey

Is it gray or grey?

It’s amazing to me how blogging about my creativity has me thinking about words and word usage and not just my process and products.  I’m not a writer, so I’m not as familiar. And unlike some blogs/bloggers, I do proofread and spellcheck. Before I posted this, I just had to know and Google happily shared.

Both words mean the same thing – “blended colors of black and white”. Usage is based on dialect. Gray is more American and grey is more common in Canada and the UK. Ironically, “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Grey Poupon”, and “Grey Goose” are all well-known American usages. I think it’s the letters. Gray Poupon looks weird.

In fashion,  gray adds tones and neutrality to bolder, more vibrant colors.  Or as a single statement of stability and sophistication. Regardless of the spelling, I hope you will think of gray/grey with a new perspective and wear it with confidence.

Until this project is finished, remember to enjoy your journey!                                                                        Erica
